Our Commitment To Privacy
The CML Society of Canada (hereinafter “CML”) respects the privacy of every individual who visits http://www.cmlsociety.org (hereinafter the “CML Site”). Because your privacy is important to us, we provide you with notice about the collection and use of your information. By visiting the CML site, you accept the practices described in this privacy notice.

Data Collection
We collect two types of information:

(1) Standard web server traffic pattern information. General traffic, site usage, and length of stay information is collected and stored in log files. This type of information may be shared externally only on an aggregated basis.

(2) Personal information. We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. In order to better facilitate our services and group organization activities we request postal code and email address information. This information is collected on our online newsletter signup form.

If you choose to participate in other activities that are linked to this particular site, any information you provide will be protected in accordance with our general Online Privacy Policy. This includes book orders and requests for information.

Data Use
We limit the use of information provided to us on the CML site to the following:

Internal Use

(1) We will only use aggregate information derived, in part, from your use of our site to improve our site and our service to you.

External Use

Users completing a CML signup form accept that their demographical information may be used external as CML sees fit.

Accreditation agencies only receive aggregate information from ACS.

We hire outside volunteers and staff to help run the CML website. We prohibit these individuals from your information for any purposes outside of the context of the website’s maintenance.

We will disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law (b) protect and defend the rights or property of CML and its family of Web sites, and, (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of CML, its Web sites, or the public.

Your Options
You may “opt-in” from the web site to receive CML updates (including the availability of new products and services) by filling in the form provided on the site. If you wish to discontinue receiving updates, you may send an “opt-out” request via email to updateme@cmlsociety.org with the subject line: “unsubscribe”.

Access
Upon request, we will provide you with a description of the information that we maintain about you. The description will be sent via electronic mail to the mail address within our records. Further, we will respond to requests for updates or changes to your personal information if they originate from this address and we receive confirmation of its validity upon sending a response inquiry from our site. We are committed to protecting the security of your personal information. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we strive to maintain physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards.

CML data is stored in password-controlled servers in CML offices in Montreal, Canada. Our staff and volunteers are educated about the importance of safeguarding your information and we are committed to holding them accountable for the protection of your confidentiality.
